Mataora Clinical & Non-Clinical


This is a service that provides support for of all ages, experiencing or impacted by distress.

What is distress? Distress is emotional, social, spiritual, or physical pain or suffering that may cause a person to feel sad, afraid, depressed, anxious or lonely. Distress can occur in different levels of severity. If you or someone you know, are wanting someone safe to talk to, make contact with our Mataora Paeārahi team.


Clinical Interventions Include:

  • Management and Risk Assessments

  • Counselling

  • Narrative and Pūrakau Therapy

  • Referral to Specialist Services

  • Provide Relevant Education

  • Care Planning


Non-Clinical Interventions Include:

  • Rongoa Māori Alternatives – Mirimiri and Ointments/Balms

  • Interactive Drawing Therapy

  • Inter-Service Navigation

  • Provide Relevant Information
